Health Promotion
Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their health. Health is a multidimensional concept that can be viewed from multiple perspectives.
Students from the field of health promotion will become familiar with various health promotion applications and research. These may include, but are not limited to:
- Behaviour change strategies
- Approaches involving healthy lifestyle education
- Advocacy and empowerment strategies
- Community development/participatory action
- Social marketing
- Relevant policy and programming

Research Supervisors
Students must complete three mandatory half-credit courses, one from each of the following categories:
- Methods Course (link to anchor on courses page)
- Field-Based Course
- Elective (as recommended by advisory committee)
In addition, all PhD students must pass a formal candidacy examination as a requirement of the program.
