Physical Therapy
Research in this field comprises investigations that are dedicated to understanding the mechanisms underlying physical mobility with a focus on contributing to either basic knowledge or the elements of physical therapy practice, which includes assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, outcome measurement, and risk and prevention. Research training is offered to individuals from a variety of disciplines in a number of diverse topics related to Physical Therapy including:
- Aging
- Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
- Child Health
- Exercise Physiology
- Motor Control and Neurosciences
- Professionalism
- Knowledge Translation and Continuing Competency
- Musculoskeletal Pain
- Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
- Outcomes measurement
- Therapeutic Modalities
- Wound Management

Students must complete three mandatory half-credit courses, one from each of the following categories:
- Methods Course
- Field-Based Course
- Elective (as recommended by advisory committee)
In addition, all PhD students must pass a formal candidacy examination as a requirement of the program.
