Health Professional Education
This field supports research in the broad area of health professional education and practice. Philosophically, the field is informed by an adult learning model, grounded in respect for experience, dialogue, reflection, collaboration, as well as a commitment to the development of a supportive learning community. The field encompasses investigations into a range of disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary issues that are relevant to health and social care disciplines. Various topics related to professional education and practice are examined, some examples of previous and current research areas taken up in the field include:

Students must complete three mandatory half-credit courses, one from each of the following categories:
- Methods Course
- Field-Based Course
- Elective (as recommended by advisory committee)
In addition, all PhD students must pass a formal candidacy examination as a requirement of the program.
