Foods & Nutrition and Chemical Engineering Dual Degree

The Faculty of Health Sciences has partnered with the Faculty of Engineering to provide a dual degree in Chemical Engineering (BESc) and Foods & Nutrition (BSc). Earn two degress in five years, and be ready to work within the foods, agricultural and manufacturing industries, contributing your brilliance to making the world a healthier and more sustainable place.
Increasing pressures on food resources affects food distribution, product nutrition and population health on a global scale. Food industry producers, manufacturers and distributors require an understanding of how to better utilize resources and how to develop and implement sustainable packaging to minimize pollution at the source.
Graduates from this innovative five-year program could be responsible for designing ingredients and products that will address the world’s most pressing needs. Beyond developing your knowledge and skill set to protect and preserve the environment, your two degrees will position you for a rewarding career. Some of the career options you may be able to explore include:
- Product and process development
- Alternative food safety/sterilization processes
- Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) processes
- Equipment innovation and development (e.g., nanotechnology and robotics)
- Product and process quality assurance
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements for Ontario high school students:
- Grade 12U English (ENG4U)
- Grade 12U Biology (SBI4U)
- Grade 12U Chemistry (SCH4U)
- Not included in average calculation but required to progress in the program: MCV4U, MHF4U, SPH4U
