Mental Health, Mental Illness and Wellness

Wellness

People experiencing mental health challenges — including addiction — are among the most stigmatized in our community.

Research that aims to address mental illness must also address the social and structural inequities that push people into the margins of society. As mental health challenges often intersect and give rise to other conditions such as homelessness and poverty, and may be exacerbated by gender, colonization, race, sexual orientation, education, employment, religion, ability, ethnicity, culture, language, and geography, our research also situates mental health socially, economically, and politically.
