Discover Kendo: The Way of the Sword
Welcome to the world of Kendo, a distinguished Japanese martial art with its roots tracing back to the training of samurai in the ancient art of swordsmanship. Kendo, meaning "The Way of the Sword" in Japanese (剣道), represents more than just a physical practice. It embodies the discipline of the human character through rigorous training and the artful application of the sword (katana).
In the modern practice of Kendo, practitioners engage with a bamboo sword known as a shinai and don protective armor called bogu. This blend of tradition and protection allows for both effective training and safety.
The practice of Kendo offers a holistic approach to self-improvement. Through dedicated training, students cultivate not only their physical prowess but also their mental fortitude. The core principles of the samurai ethos are interwoven into Kendo's teachings, fostering respect for others, a pursuit of self-development, and a commitment to contributing to the greater harmony and prosperity of humanity.
