Their reading comprehension abilities allow them to understand complex material and analyze their content effectively. They have experience working collaboratively in teams, receiving and offering constructive feedback to improve quality. With strong research abilities, they can gather and synthesize information into coherent content. They excel at meeting deadlines and can create engaging content quickly. Additionally, their critical thinking, time management, multitasking, and task prioritization skills are valuable and transferable across various roles.

What benefits did hiring an Arts and Humanities intern bring to your organization?

Hiring an Arts and Humanities intern brought several benefits to our organization. They brought a broader perspective, helping us to see the bigger picture and think more strategically. Their adaptability allowed them to work effectively with different clients, tailoring their approach to meet varied needs. They handled diverse writing tasks and produced different kinds of content, demonstrating their versatility. Additionally, their ability to work across different roles made them a valuable asset, as they could seamlessly transition between projects and support various departments as needed.

What advice would you give to a prospective intern?

To prospective interns, my advice would be to ask lots of questions, as understanding how to apply your skills effectively is essential. Recognize that there is more to writing than what you might typically encounter in a classroom setting, and be ready to engage with various styles of writing and types of content. It is crucial to understand deadlines and the time allocated for tasks to manage your workload efficiently. Communicate clearly, stay proactive, and regularly convey your progress while not hesitating to ask for help when needed. Additionally, be flexible and avoid having a fixed outlook on the workplace, as the industry is constantly evolving. Being prepared to shift gears and adapt to changes will serve you well in this dynamic environment.

In your experience, what skills and abilities does an Arts and Humanities intern bring to their internship?

Arts and Humanities interns have brought a wide range of skills to the table during internship placements. Some students come to us with strong experience using the Adobe Suite and other editing software. Others come with behind-the-camera experience, and still others have expertise in marketing.

What we have appreciated most is that all of the students who we’ve hosted have come with a great work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a professional demeanour which makes involving them in client-facing work easy and stress-free.

What benefits did hiring an Arts and Humanities intern bring to your organization?

Having a student integrated with our team is so much more than an extra set of hands. These capable students have been able to quickly learn necessary skills to support our team and gain meaningful, hands-on experience themselves.

What advice would you give to a prospective intern?

Be ready to learn. Problem solve and attempt to find a solution, and if you can’t, then reach out to your internship supervisor. We are here to help, and want to see you get the most out of your time with us, but remember: you get out what you put in!
