Involvement and Influence
Being involved in the decision-making process provides us with the opportunity to influence decisions - this creates a sense of ownership and accountability. Collectively, our unique ideas and viewpoints often lead to more creative and agreeable solutions. Organizations frequently change internal and external processes to improve efficiency and adapt to new environments (change management). It is important to remember that these decisions can impact employees, units, or the workplace as whole. When possible, we need to provide all key stakeholders with an opportunity to influence the decision by allowing them to voice their ideas and concerns. By viewing a problem from all angles, we often come up with more creative and agreeable solutions. When we are involved throughout the process, we are engaged, possess a greater sense of ownership and accountability, and feel empowered.
