Prof. Laura Misener has supervised Avery O’Neil’s (BA, 2022) project, in collaboration with Dr. Amy Latimer-Cheung's team at Queens University. This project aims to cultivate a definitive volunteer training program for large-scale disability events. Avery collected information on current disability sport volunteer training programs and integrated these findings with new qualitative data collected through interviews with athletes with disabilities, event organizers, and previous volunteers. Prof. Misener has also supervised Erica Lo’s (BA, 2023) work on . Erica focused on the role of social media in recruiting and sustaining participation in an online forum about individual experiences of disability sport participation. Erica used her work to create a poster that provides guidance regarding the recruitment process, advantages, challenges, and considerations when utilizing social media in qualitative health research.

Undergraduate students in sport marketing get special opportunity with the Ti-Cats

Undergraduate students in Sport Marketing (KIN 3399) had the pleasure of listening to Sophie Kargl, a senior coordinator of marketing and fan engagement with the . Sophie discussed the Ti-Cats' change in strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The guest visit was made possible with the help of 澳门六合彩开奖预测 Sport Management alumna, (PhD, 2013; Assistant Professor, Wilfrid Laurier University).

The KIN 3399 class will now be sending two groups of students to an upcoming virtual case competition, where they will pitch a marketing strategy for the 2021 Grey Cup to executives from the Ti-Cats. Students will need to consider the COVID-19 Public Health and Safety regulations in developing their marketing strategy, while maintaining a positive guest experience that includes fan engagement and interactions.

He was a talented hockey player drafted into the Ontario Hockey League but he had to hang up the skates due to injuries.

The ECS is a peer reviewed database and welcomes submissions on a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to, athletes, organizations, social issues, governance, and development, reflective of Canada’s diverse social and cultural landscape. A team of sport management undergraduate (Kendra Squire) and graduate students (Swarali Patil, Ross Clausi), with Prof. Alison Doherty, presented their project "Mapping the sport and physical activity landscape in a community" at the recent .
