This Cognitive Neuroscience Research Facility at WIRB is home to a Parkinson’s Disease (PD) research lab that is outfitted with a driving simulator, virtual reality equipment and other cognitive testing rooms/equipment. The purpose of these facilities is to: assess performance during visuospatial tasks, assess cognition with a variety of neuropsychological tests, and to compare these metrics in patients with PD and healthy volunteer research participants. By examining these data in conjunction with structural and functional neuroimaging techniques and pharmacological manipulations, this research aims to further our understanding of the relationship between physiology and cognition in PD so that better assessment and treatment methods can be developed.
