Kinematics
Much can be learned about the mind from careful observation of behaviour, both in healthy volunteers and in patients with brain injury. The Cognitive Neuroscience Research Facility at WIRB has two larger testing spaces that are outfitted with camera systems capable of tracking active infrared markers which can be attached to various participant body segments (e.g. various positions on the hand to record and quantify hand-shaping during a
reach-to-grasp action). These kinematic recordings can be conducted simultaneously with other methods, such as eye-tracking, fNIRS, EEG, etc.
