The parent-to-parent support model developed by Henderson, Johnson, & Moodie (2014; 2016) could be used in audiology practice and audiology educational curriculum to develop a common language to explain the role of parent-to- parent support. This model may also help guide change to improve parent-to-parent support for parents of children who are D/HH. It could help decision makers understand context and content better and facilitate interventions. In an evaluation of the framework, 85% of respondents (20/21) agreed with significant certainty that the conceptual framework has the ability to serve as a model for parent-to-parent support for parents of children who are D/HH.
The conceptual framework of parent-to-parent support is currently being used within the FL3 guidelines for addressing the needs of families who have children who are D/deaf or hard of hearing (Hands and Voices, 2018).
