Specialization in Gender and Women's Studies

Admission Requirements

Completion of first-year requirements, including 1.0 Gender and Women's Studies credits at the 1000 level (either GSWS 1020E or 1.0 credits from GSWS 1021F/G, GSWS 1022F/G, GSWS 1023F/G, GSWS 1024F/G or GSWS 1030F/G) with a mark of at least 60%, or permission of the Department. Note: Students beginning a module in Gender and Women's Studies after first year may substitute GSWS 2240F/G in place of the 1.0 first year credit requirement and take it concurrently with their second-year courses.

 

Module Requirements
9.0 courses:

  • 1.0 course: GSWS 2220E (required)
  • 0.5 course: GSWS 3320F/G (required)
  • 0.5 course: GSWS 3173F/G, GSWS 3324F/G, GSWS 3325F/G, or GSWS 3326F/G
  • 1.0 course at the 2100 level or above
  • 4.5 courses at the 2200 level or above
  • 1.0 courses at the 3000 level or above
  • 0.5 course at the 4000 level

A student may apply to the Department for approval to substitute up to 2.0 courses from another department provided that the courses are relevant to the student's Specialization in Gender and Women's Studies.
