Travelling Awards and Scholarships available to students enrolled in a module in French Studies on Main Campus:
A. Dorothy Turville Undergraduate Language Travelling Fellowships
Awarded annually on a competitive basis to undergraduates registered in the constituent University who are entering the third or fourth year of an Honours Bachelor degree in either an Honours Specialization in French, German or Spanish; or a Double Major that includes a Major module in one or more of these subjects and are taking year three or four abroad in Europe. Preference will be given to students studying French and to those who propose to teach French in elementary or secondary schools. Part-Time students will be eligible for the Fellowship, provided that they have completed the full second year of their Honours Specialization. Applications should be submitted by students prior to the last day of classes each year to the Chair of the Departments of French Studies, and Languages and Cultures. Value: 5 at $3,200 (Non Renewable).
Wilfred and Zeta O'Donnell Travelling Fellowship
Awarded to undergraduate students, either full or part-time, registered in the constituent University who have completed two years of an Honors BA with either an Honors Specialization or double Major modules in the Departments of Classical Studies, French Studies or Languages and Cultures. In order to apply a student must have a minimum academic standing of 75% and must enroll in a course of study for which departmental approval has been received. Applications must be submitted by students prior to the last day of classes to the Chair of the department concerned.
$6,500 available annually, up to $2,000/student for study in Europe & up to $500/student for study in Quebec.

Catherine Mary Bowie Travelling Award
Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student entering third or fourth year of an Honours Bachelor degree in either an Honours Specialization in French Studies or a double Major including French. Recipients must have a minimum academic average of 75%, and must enroll in a course of study for which departmental approval has been received. Applications can be obtained from the Department of French and must be submitted by students prior to the last day of classes to the Chair of the Department. The recipient will be selected by the Department of French. This award was established by Margaret and George Bowie to honour the memory of their daughter, Catherine Mary Bowie (BEd'83, HBA'82, BA'80). Value: 2 at $4,400. Effective: 2019-2020 academic year.
Sir Charles Edward Saunders-Mary Eileen Anderson Awards
Awarded annually to students registered at the constituent University who are pursuing an exchange program in a French speaking country. Enrolment in a French Studies module in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities with a minimum modular average of 75% is required. Recipients must enroll in a course of study for which departmental approval has been received.
This award was established through a generous estate gift from Sir Charles Edward Saunders and Mary Eileen Anderson. Sir Charles Edward Saunders was educated at Johns Hopkins University, Harvard University, and the University of Toronto. He developed the “Marquis” strain of wheat which enabled the large commercial production of high-quality bread wheat in Canada. For these achievements, he was Knighted in 1933. He died in 1937 at the age of 70.

Study Abroad in Aix-Marseille Award
Awarded to full-time undergraduate students (from all Faculties in the Constituent University) who are enrolled in a module in French Studies and will participate in the Study Abroad in Aix-Marseille program during the year they receive the award. In order to apply, a student must have maintained an average of at least 70% in the previous year and must enroll in a course of study for which departmental approval has been received. This award was established in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities through a University initiative to promote internationalization of the curriculum and of the student experience at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ô¤²â. Applications should be submitted by students at least four months prior to the first day of the study-abroad semester to the Chair of the Department of French Studies.
