Research In Profile

Professor Connelly’s current research focuses on building capacity for provision of care including point-of-care for older adults living in long-term care and home and community care sectors from several perspectives: workforce recruitment and retention; organizational, individual and professional resilience; role of family/care partners; and a virtual PIECES™ care planning framework. Professor Connelly’s research explores career bridging initiatives and perspectives of graduates to address the current workforce shortages in these practice settings using quantitative and qualitative methods. Additionally, she studies the use of virtual care planning in long-term care homes using the PIECES™ approach, an evidence-based intervention to enhance engagement of family/ care partners in person-centered care planning.

Expected outcomes of her research are to strengthen care partnerships, promote building capacity and improve the quality of life in older adults living in long-term care and home and community care settings.
