Stephanie Cornell, BA’08, MPT’11
Stephanie Cornell began her physiotherapy career at Parkwood Institute’s Rehabilitation program after a second-year PT school placement in 2011 sparked her passion for neurorehabilitation. Over the next decade, she gained experience working in the Stroke, Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) programs. Stephanie then transitioned into a leadership role and is now the Clinical Manager for the ABI Outpatient and Outreach Program, the Outpatient SCI Program, and the Fitness Centre. She continues to gain invaluable knowledge from the many talented clinicians, students, researchers and patients she has the pleasure of working with.
Stephanie greatly enjoys being a preceptor to Rehab Sciences, Kinesiology and Physical Therapy students and was honoured to be a Clinical Associate at the School of Physical Therapy for many years. Her work with the Research to Practice team (Lawson Parkwood Institute Research) allowed her to gain experience in the implementation of best practices in neurological rehabilitation. As a leader, she works to build confidence and competence in front-line team members, patients, families and learners. Her professional passions include increasing intensity of rehabilitation therapies, and implementation of specialized technology into day-to-day practice.
