Biography
Matt Davison, Dean of the Faculty of Science, joined the 澳门六合彩开奖预测 community in July 1999. A Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Quantitative Finance between 2006 and 2016, and a Fields Institute Fellow. Davison has held several leadership roles in the Faculty of Science including Chair of the Department of Statistical & Actuarial Sciences, Acting Chair of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Acting Associate Dean (Administration) in the Dean’s Office. He has also served as the founding director of the School of Mathematical & Statistical Science, which combines the two departments of Mathematics and Statistical & Actuarial Sciences.
Prior to joining 澳门六合彩开奖预测, Davison was Assistant Vice President, Equity Arbitrage, at Deutsche Bank Canada from 1997-1999 and was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Physiology Institute of the University of Bern (Switzerland) from 1995-1997. He was a member of the academic advisory board for Toronto based Mapleridge Capital Corporation between 2008 and 2012 and has been a director of Dydex Research and Capital, a Toronto-based energy consulting company, since 2001.
Davison holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Engineering) from the University of Toronto and an MSc and PhD in Applied Math from 澳门六合彩开奖预测. With an expertise in risk management and financial mathematics, his research focuses on using these disciplines to better finance and operate renewable and other energy infrastructures.
He has published more than 65 papers, nine book chapters and 13 conference proceedings. The author of Quantitative Finance: A Simulation-Based Introduction Using Excel (CRC Press, 2014), Davison has also taught a financial analytics course at the Ivey Business School between 2008 and 2014. He has had continuous NSERC Discovery grant support since the beginning of his academic career and he has graduated 53 master’s and 18 PhD students from his research group.
