I am a philosopher of science specializing in conceptual and epistemological issues arising in biological studies. My research is interdisciplinary and ranges from understanding the meaning and consequences of historical contingency in evolution and ecology, to inference from models to natural systems in immunology and geomorphology, and to developing new perspectives for understanding and building resilient social-ecological systems.

I am happy to supervise students working in philosophy of science, philosophy of biology, and environmental philosophy.
