Applicants must meet the following admission requirements:

• An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in the area of health sciences, from an accredited university, college or institute
• Minimum B average based on the last two years or 20 half credits of study
• Two references
  • One academic (if attended university within the last five years) and one professional
• Applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language by a satisfactory achievement within the last two years in one of the following: 
  
  • The  (TOEFL). The minimum acceptable score is 105 (internet-based test); 620 (paper-based test); 260 (computer-based test). [°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±Ô¤²â's TOEFL ID is 0984]. 
  • The  (IELTS Academic). The minimum acceptable score is 7.5 out of 9.

• Applicants who are required to present evidence of proficiency in English must make their own arrangements to complete one of the above tests or programs and to have the official results sent directly to  by the testing agency. 
• The English language proficiency requirements outlined above do not apply to students from Quebec

Learners who hold an undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in an unrelated field and have at least two years of appropriate, full-time employment experience in the health sciences may be admitted on a case-by case basis.

The Graduate Diploma in Applied Health Sciences is designed by leaders in the fields of education and healthcare with input from students and employers. Over the course of study, students will develop:

• 1A. Develop an understanding of a substantial body of knowledge in health and health care.
• 1B. Develop an understanding of different facets of health science and their interconnections.
• 1C. Develop an appreciation for how health knowledge is reflected in and interpreted and applied by different professions/disciplines.
• 1D. Develop an awareness of the scope and complexity of knowledge in the health sciences.
• 2A. Develop an understanding of the concepts of critical thinking and critical analysis, and appreciate how these approaches inform the examination of health and healthcare.
• 2B. Acquire a working comprehension of qualitative and quantitative methodologies in creating and interpreting health and healthcare knowledge.
• 2C. Develop an understanding of, and facility with, the research techniques appropriate to effectively explore this health information.
• 2D. Begin to “internalize” an efficient approach to keeping abreast of the rapidly evolving health-sciences evidence base.
• 3A. Analyze critically a range of health issues by applying current knowledge and perspectives to a range of health questions.
• 4A. Develop insight into one’s capacity to contribute to human health through a critical understanding of current health knowledge and research techniques.
• 4B. Apply advanced understanding of health issues to one’s personal health employment environment.
• 5A. Convey effectively current knowledge of health sciences to diverse audiences.
• 5B. Communicate effectively in inter-professional teams.
• 6A. Describe the inherent complexities of human health and health systems.
• 6B. Identify and critically appraise a diversity of perspectives on health and health care.

Requirements for the Graduate Diploma in Applied Health Sciences can be fulfilled in:

• 20 months, assuming one course is taken each semester
• 12 months, assuming two courses are taken each semester
