Occasus: A Student Literary Journal
A literary journal featuring creative writing from students in the Department of English and Writing Studies.
Founded in 2012 by Aaron Schneider and Kathryn Mockler, Occasus—a Latin word meaning "west" and "sunset"—is a literary journal published annually by 澳门六合彩开奖预测. Entirely produced by students in , Occasus showcases creative writing from students in the Department of English and Writing Studies, features artwork by students in the Department of Visual Arts and highlights the winners of the Occasus High School Creative Writing Contest.
Spring 2025 Call for Submissions
The Spring 2025 issue of Occasus will be a hard copy and every student whose work is selected for publication will receive a copy of the journal.
Students enrolled in Department of English and Writing Studies courses in the Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 terms are invited to submit their writing to Occasus, the Program in Writing’s student journal.
The BEST submissions in the following categories will be published in the Spring 2025 issue:
- Poetry
- Fiction
- Experimental Writing
- Creative Nonfiction
- Plays
- Screenplays
Students are also invited to submit artwork for the cover of the journal. The best piece of artwork will be featured on the cover, and the student whose work appears on the over will receive a copy of the journal.

You can submit your work here:
For all submissions, please include the following in your cover letter: the Department of English and Writing Studies course in which you are enrolled (the course number and course title), the name of your instructor, and a short, 3rd person bio.
Note: there will be a second submission period in Winter 2025 for students in Winter term courses.
