Lecture by curator Alan C. Elder
Please join the Visual Art Department’'s Modernism and Interior Design Course on November 20th at 11:30am for a lecture by curator Alan C. Elder on Canada's participation in both the 1954 and 1957 Triennale di Milano design exhibitions. Elder will explore what distinguished the Canadian contributions from the other European displays.
Elder’'s research focuses on Canadian craft and design activities from the early 20th century to the present. He has a particular interest in the period immediately after the Second World War. Since joining the Canadian Museum of Civilization’'s staff in 2002 as a curator specializing in Canadian crafts and design, he has worked on several exhibitions including Japan: Tradition. Innovation, Cool ’60s Design and Harvesting Clay: The Beauce Pottery in the 1940s. His career at the Museum was preceded by fifteen years of working with different art organizations and galleries.
