1. Decanal Selection Committees
Composition: A committee to select a Dean of a Faculty other than Graduate Studies shall consist of:
(a) the Provost & Vice-President (Academic), who shall be Chair
(b) the Vice-President (Research)
(c) 5 persons elected by the Council of the Faculty concerned
(d) 3 persons elected by Senate, who are not faculty, staff or students of the Faculty concerned, and only one of whom may be a Dean.
a) Selection Committee for a Dean of Arts
Required: 3 persons elected by Senate, who are not faculty, staff or students of the Faculty of Arts, and only one of whom may be a Dean.
Nominees: C. Backhouse (Law), K. McQuillan (Soc.Sci.), A. Pearson (Dean/Educ.)
b) Selection Committee for a Dean of Medicine & Dentistry
Required:3 persons elected by Senate, who are not faculty, staff or students of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, and only one of whom may be a Dean.
Nominees:A. Belcastro (Dean/HS), N.O. Petersen (Sci.), L. Swartzman (Soc.Sci.)
c) Selection Committee for a Dean of Science
Required:3 persons elected by Senate, who are not faculty, staff or students of the Faculty of Science, and only one of whom may be a Dean.
Nominees:E. Gillese (Dean/Law), R. King (Soc. Sci.), J. Thorp (Arts)
2. Committee on Promotion and Tenure II (Tenure Division) - SCPT-II
Composition includes:
One student from the constituent University whose Faculty of registration is not the same as that of the student member of SCPT-I
No member of the SCPT-II may at the same time be a member of the SCPT-I or the Senate Committee on Appeals.
Required:One student from the constituent University to replace B. Slade who has resigned. The student's Faculty of registration may not be the same as that of the student member of SCPT-I, (Engineering Science).

Nominating Committee
P. Deane (Arts), E. Gillese (Law) and A. Weedon (Science) were elected as members of the Nominating Committee (terms to November 1999).
Vice-Chair of Senate
A. Pearson (Education) has been elected for a one-year term (to November 1998).
Operations/Agenda Committee
Since A. Pearson was elected as Vice-Chair of Senate, an additional position became available (to November 1998) on the Operations/Agenda Committee.
Two undergraduate students were elected for one-year terms (to November 1998): K. Howlett (to complete the term of A. Pearson) and K. Porter.
Elected for two-year terms (to November 1999) were R. Lipson (Science), K. McQuillan (Social Science),
P. Deane (Arts) and C. Thomson (Arts).
University Council on Animal Care
Z. Kucherovsky was elected for a two-year term on UCAC (to November 1999).
Honorary Degree Committee
Elected for two-year terms (to November 1999) were: R. Coulter (Education), R. Darnell (Social Science),
L. Milligan (Science), A. Sancton (Social Science) and A. Wylie (Arts).
Elected for one-year terms (to November 1998) were: I. Moore (Engineering Science) and E. Tustanoff (Medicine & Dentistry).
2. University Council on Student Housing (UCOSH)
Senate By-Law VI 13.a):... Upon the granting of the Leave of Absence, the Nominating Committee shall appoint a temporary replacement and report its actions to the Senate.
The Committee appointed C. Callaghan to serve as Alternate for C. Farber who is on leave (term January 1, 1998 - December 31, 1998).
