The School of Kinesiology at 澳门六合彩开奖预测 advocates the benefits of physical activity to society by providing a multidisciplinary approach to discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge about human movement and its effects. The School is excited to support three research clusters focusing on Physical Activity and 1) Brain Health, 2) Mobility, and 3) Social Impact. We are seeking a colleague in a probationary (tenure-track) position at the rank of Associate Professor or a Full Professor (with tenure), depending on qualifications and experience, to become the Frank Hayden Endowed Chair in Sport and Social Impact. The successful candidate will contribute to the vision of the school as a global leader in research and education through a multidisciplinary approach to kinesiology.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Kinesiology or a related field, have demonstrated excellence in research and research leadership, and a demonstrated record of external research funding. The candidate ideally will have established proficiency in developing and teaching courses in traditional and flexible learning environments. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in relevant service to the School of Kinesiology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University and work closely with Special Olympics Canada. The effective date of the appointment is July 1, 2019, or as negotiated. Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Chair will be a recognized scholar whose research will address the role of sport in contributing to social change for those with intellectual disabilities. The focus on the social impact of sport/physical activity aligns with the Faculty of Health Sciences research pillars of social inclusion, health equity, and mobility. Through the development of an interdisciplinary research program, the Chair will work with other scholars, graduate trainees, and partner organizations to build a team to investigate sport/physical activity participation for all persons, including those with intellectual disabilities. The Chair will be expected to seek external funding, support graduate trainees, and develop innovative approaches for research with persons with intellectual disabilities.
The Chair will also work closely with Special Olympics Canada and contribute to a knowledge hub that brings together research on intellectual disability, and support knowledge translation for Special Olympics communities, athletes, families, and supporters. This will help support the collective impact of the Special Olympics movement and generate greater capacity to deliver on the vision of enriching the lives of Canadians with intellectual disabilities through sport.
