Research Interests/Specializations
Professional and healthcare writing; engineering communication; rhetorical theory; argumentation; grammar
I have taught a wide variety of courses on both the English and Writing side of things, with my focus being on early modern literature—dramatic and (perhaps especially) otherwise—as well as on professional and healthcare communication, contemporary rhetorical theory and argumentation, and grammar. Current (and disparate) areas of research interest include Engineering communication, sixteenth century health narratives and martyrological literature, as well as exploring the connection between the teaching of writing and rhetoric and the development of confessional identity in early modern England.
My most recent project (co-authored with Dr. Michael Arntfield) is the narrative medicine focused textbook Healthcare Writing: A Practical Guide to Professional Success (Broadview, 2016).
